HOURS PROVIDED:

There is a registered manager, 24-hour staffing, specific 1:1 staffing as required, two waking night to support individuals at night. Hours provided: Background fee covers 21 hours of support and additional hours support are determined and agreed during the assessment period to allow the correct level of required support to be purchased.

Service Profile

Whitehaven support people whose primary need is Learning disability, they may have a dual diagnosis of mental health. The service provides to each individual Service User person-centred care planning, SMART goal setting, liaising with all relevant agencies to ensure a holistic approach to their care and to ‘live’ in a homely setting away from clinical experiences they may have experienced in their past. We encourage them to relax in the home-like environment that we work hard to create. Families and friends are welcome to visit the home by appointment or drop-in at any time to see their relatives or friends.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Whitehaven House is a large detached house situated in a quiet residential area of Felpham just outside of Bognor Regis. Whitehaven house is located in a quiet residential area, with a convenience store and newsagents opposite and a large playing field a very short walk away. A petrol station, pub, small play park and further convenience stores and mini supermarkets are located just a short walk away. Whitehaven House has a large, driveway to the front and a spacious, lawned garden to the rear. Inside, there is a generous lounge area, with a smaller quiet lounge area. There is a separate dining area and a fitted kitchen, with communal toilets and bathrooms. Part of the house has been converted into 2 self-contained apartments, with a bathroom, which assists service users to step forward into a more independent lifestyle without having to take the full step into supported living, this proves a good transition. The home is set over two floors, with a working lift to support the less mobile. Bognor Regis town centre is approximately 1 mile away and has excellent road, bus and rail links. Chichester is located just 7 miles away and Worthing, is 15 miles. The Home – Is close to the seaside and the town centre itself which offers: A cinema, A bingo hall, Laburnum Centre-Day centre, Typical seaside amusements, Leisure complexes that include swimming pools, A library, Restaurants and fast foods outlets, High street shops, A small market held twice a week and a car boot sale once a week, Butlin’s holiday resort.

Service AIMS

At Whitehaven, we aim to provide a person-centred approach to all of our individual service users in regards to care, treatment and welfare. We aim to support service users with their needs, potential learning impairments, and physical health status.  We provide a range of personalised support, including personal care, if required. We do not provide clinical (nursing) support but aim to gain strong community links with all health provision agencies to ensure that any individual’s physical health is maintained and improved to the best of our care. We aim for our individual Service Users to experience real constructive daily lives, aided by us through the use of inclusive care planning, SMART goal setting, liaising with all relevant agencies to ensure a holistic approach to their care and to ‘live’ in a homely setting, away from clinical experiences they may have experienced in their past. We aim to provide all our service users with the best standard of care whilst encouraging them to relax in the home-like environment that we work hard to create. Families and friends are welcome to visit the home either by appointment, or coming in at any time to see their relatives or friends.
