24-hour care. Staffing support levels will be provided on a needs basis and remain under review.
Ashgale House’s policy is to create effective, sensitive, person-centred plans as part of a staged programme of care that enables individuals to enjoy a more independent and enriched way of living. The programmes are designed to enhance social and communication skills, to encourage an inclusive approach with external agencies, and hence, apply pro-active measures that ensure the service-users gain maximum advantage of services within the community. Monitoring initiatives ensure that care standards and support programme are maintained. Integrity and trust are at the heart of these values. All staff are inducted into the home’s principles, philosophy and working practices.
Our philosophy of care is based upon ordinary life principles and the belief that all people, regardless of their disabilities, should have the same opportunities to experience consistent and enriched life patterns.
Ashgale House aims to develop each person's competencies by building on individual skills and strengths thus providing a home that is happy and a life that is fulfilling. Ashgale House also provides respite care for service users who present with similar needs. All residents are provided with a spacious bedroom, all having a wash hand basin. Each bedroom is furnished but we do encourage residents to personalise their own rooms with their own furnishings and choice of décor. Staff are available to offer support with this if required. All residents have a key to their bedroom to ensure privacy and dignity. The house is easily accessible by public transport with all major bus and train routes going in and out of Harrow. The A40 through Wembley town leads directly into London. The town centre is a short ten-minute walk from the home, as is the local train station and bus stop.
The local amenities include:
Sports/Leisure Centre, Cinemas, Bowling Alleys, Swimming Pool, Restaurants and public houses. In-house day-care includes creative games and opportunities to pursue and develop chosen hobbies and sports.
Outings occur on a regular basis at Ashgale House, these include meals out, theatre/pub trips, and cinema trips to name but a few. Holidays and short breaks are arranged for service users throughout the year. All activities are based on each service user's needs and wishes.
Ashgale House aims to provide a homely environment, which enables each person to reach their own individual maximum potential, at a pace and level that is appropriate for each individual’s needs. Ashgale House provides full activity care plans that are person-centred. They are completed in line with each resident's needs and wishes, which are monitored and reviewed regularly. Each resident will have a key-worker. A key-worker is a team member who has specific responsibility for ensuring their key resident’s needs are met and that their care plans are relevant and up to date.
