There is a registered manager, 24-hour staffing, and specific 1:1 staffing as required and waking night to support individuals.
Newhaven is a small service that provides a friendly and homely atmosphere in a clean and safe environment. The service facilitates and provides opportunities for individuals to gain the skills and independence they need to fulfill a good quality of life. Newhaven also encourages people to gain confidence in promoting decision-making and choice through a person-centred approach which is individualised for each person.
Newhaven is situated close to Hotham Park and Bognor seafront. There are two double rooms and four single rooms. Two rooms are on the ground floor and the other four rooms are located on the first floor. There is a communal lounge that is used by the non-smokers; there is a television with Freeview and a DVD player. Our laundry room is situated towards the side of the building. The kitchen is located on the ground floor, accessible from the house or back garden. There are two bathrooms; one is situated on the ground floor and fitted with a shower (wet room), and the other is on the first floor fitted with a bathtub. There are four toilets within the home, two on the ground floor, one on the first floor, and one on the second floor. Service users are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own furnishings, pictures and ornaments. The service users are also encouraged to be fully involved in the choice of colours and décor in their own rooms and communal areas. Smoking is prohibited in the service users’ bedrooms due to insurance dictation. The home offers a communal lounge that provides necessary furnishings and a dining area as well. All family and friends are made welcome. The home has an office on the second floor. The medication room can be located in the communal lounge.
The Home is close to the seaside and the town centre itself which offers: A cinema, bingo hall, Laburnum day centre, typical seaside amusement leisure complexes that include swimming pools, a library, restaurants and fast foods outlets, high street shops, a small market held twice a week and a car boot sale once a week, Butlin’s holiday resort. The city of Chichester is approximately six miles away. The local bus and train services run regularly throughout the day. Chichester also has a wide range of shops, a well-known Cathedral, a college, leisure facilities as well as many local amenities.
We provide Person Centred and Person Led Care, treatment and support to people with mental health needs and learning disability living within our accommodation and also respite care when needed and if place available.
We aim to support Individuals with their Mental Health needs, potential learning impairments, and physical health status.
We provide a range of personalised support, including personal care if required.
We do not provide clinical (nursing) support but aim to gain strong community links with all health provision agencies to ensure that the individual’s physical health is maintained and improved to the best of our care.
We aim for Service Users to experience timely, constructive outcomes expressed through their lifestyle and to have opportunities for fulfilment and recovery, as a result of choosing to use the services we provide.
We aim for our individual Service Users to experience real constructive daily lives aided by us through the use of inclusive care planning, SMART goal setting, liaising with all relevant agencies to ensure a holistic approach to their care and to ‘live’ in a homely setting away from clinical experiences they may have experienced in their past.
We aim to provide all our individuals the best standard of care whilst encouraging them to relax in the home-like environment that we work hard to create.
